Monika Gierałtowska-Karpowicz is an attorney-at-law and counsel in the privacy & data protection department of Rymarz Zdort Maruta.
Monika specialises in personal data protection law and information security law. Her particular focus is on matters related to the entrustment of personal data processing and audits of data processors. She is an experienced advisor, auditor and trainer. She has completed more than a dozen projects involving the implementation of GDPR compliance measures in organisations, including organisations operating in the fields of insurance, finance, labour markets and employment. She gained her experience as a long-term employee of the Department of Jurisprudence, Legislation and Complaints in the Office of the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, and as an associate of one of Warsaw’s consulting firms. Monika has for many years been a data protection officer for entities across a variety of industries. She is an author of publications on personal data protection and a lecturer in postgraduate studies. She is also an ISO 27001 internal auditor.
Monika is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the Ryszard Łazarski Academy of Commerce and Law in Warsaw (currently Lazarski University) and completed postgraduate studies in the field of safeguarding classified and other legally protected information in the Business and Administration faculty at the Private School of Business, Administration and Information Technology in Warsaw (currently the Private School of Social, Computer and Medical Sciences).
