Jakub Kowal is an attorney-at-law, a senior associate in the technology department of Rymarz Zdort Maruta and a member of the Video Games & Entertainment team.

He specialises in intellectual property law and labour law, especially in the context of the game development sector.
Jakub has advised on numerous projects in connection with labour and employment law, new technologies and intellectual property law. Among other things, he has supported one of the leading Polish computer game developers in the process of changing its employment basis and preparing a set of model employment and service contracts with a revenue share element. He also prepared other employment law documents, including with respect to securing intellectual property rights.
In another project, he supported a computer game developer in the copyright clearance process, preparing an analysis of the effectiveness of the acquisition of copyrights to elements of a computer game from the studio’s collaborators, as well as artistic performance rights and preparing draft agreements. He also advised on the rebranding of a capital group of one of leaders in the media industry.
He has advised on a number of projects in the area of labour and employment law, including the construction, review and implementation of labour, remuneration and bonus policies and regulations. He has also drafted and reviewed employment contracts, including those concluded with key management personnel.
He has also been involved in numerous due diligence investigations in the areas of employment law and intellectual property protection. He has also advised in the above-mentioned areas on transactions (both share deals and asset deals) and on transformations of commercial companies.
