  • Rymarz Zdort Maruta with the full composition of Life Sciences & Compliance practice

We are pleased to announce that the transfer of the Life Sciences & Compliance legal team to Rymarz Zdort Maruta has been completed. This extremely important change had already been announced in November, when Michał Czarnuch joined the law firm’s team as the head of the new practice. Michał will manage it the team along with the partners Dr Anna Partyka-Opiela, Marcin Pieklak and Tomasz Kaczyński.

I am delighted that our team is now fully integrated with a law firm that sees and understands the demand among clients for services in the area of Life Sciences & Compliance and that wishes to offer such services as part of their plan to build a full-service law firm. We would like to thank our clients for the trust they have placed in us by deciding to embark on a new journey with us with Rymarz Zdort Maruta, and all of the staff and associates of the law firm for their warm welcome”, says Michał Czarnuch.

At the beginning of the year, the team was joined by:

Expanding the range of services provided by our law firm is one of the key elements of our strategy. We are very pleased to be joined by such a renowned team of experienced lawyers in this area. I am confident that with the addition of a fifteen-strong team of Life Sciences & Compliance specialists, combined with the rest of our firm’s leading practices, we will set new standards for the quality of legal advice in this field”, concludes Paweł Zdort, managing partner.

  • Rymarz Zdort Maruta to cooperate with creator of whistleblowing system Whistlelink

European Union countries, including Poland, are required to transpose the provisions of the Whistleblower Directive into their legislation as well as implement new procedures related to whistleblowing, and businesses and organisations must have in place internal solutions allowing for secure and confidential whistleblowing (i.e. a whistleblowing system). Entities that fail to meet the relevant requirements will face serious consequences. At the beginning of January, the topic of ‘whistleblowers’ resurfaced, and with it the spectre of a bill being passed by the Council of Ministers as early as the first quarter of 2024.

At Rymarz Zdort Maruta, we not only provide comprehensive and professional legal services related to the implementation of whistleblower protection obligations, but also recognise the need among our clients for the implementation of whistleblowing management tools within their organisations. We are pleased to announce that as of the beginning of February 2024, the Swedish technology company Whistleblowing Solutions AB, the creator of the Whistlelink system, which has been providing internal solutions for whistleblowers for 10 years, is set to become our partner in this regard.

“Implementing an effective whistleblowing system within an organisation not only provides protection against retaliation by whistleblowers, but it also allows companies to prevent and counteract irregularities in the workplace and to contribute to strengthening the effectiveness of business risk management. The main criteria that companies should follow when choosing a solution provider to manage whistleblowing should be to ensure the highest level of security against attacks, privacy protection and compliance with the relevant standards and legislation. I believe Whistlelink can guarantee this.” – says Anna Partyka-Opiela, a partner at Rymarz Zdort Maruta.

Whistlelink is an innovative tool that enables businesses and organisations to effectively manage information regarding internal unethical or non-compliant behaviour. Whistleblowing Solutions AB has a global client base across a wide range of industries, including public institutions, with an emphasis on IT security. Whistlelink is a GDPR-compliant and ISO 27001-certified platform, and it is worth noting, all of its data is hosted in Europe. The Whistlelink application is available in over 35 different languages and provides an intuitive and customisable reporting form, comprehensive administration tools for monitoring and communication, as well as statistics and reports.

“We welcome the opportunity to work with a law firm that supports clients in the area of compliance. We have seen over the years that the implementation of whistleblowing policies and procedures and the protection of whistleblowers can bring much greater benefits to companies and minimise the risks to their businesses and, with tools for managing reports, only streamline the process” – summarises Urszula Garbicz-Bryś, Territory Manager CEE, Whistleblowing Solutions AB.

“I am delighted that The Lawyer has recognised us once again in this prestigious competition. • Renowned Life Sciences legal team joins Rymarz Zdort Maruta

The law firm of Rymarz Zdort Maruta, in line with its strategy, is continuing its dynamic growth by expanding the scope of support it provides to also cover the Life Sciences sector. Over the coming months, our new Life Sciences team will be joined by a dozen experienced advisors who have for years worked with clients in the Life Sciences sector. This initiative is a response to the ever-changing and developing healthcare sector in Poland and Europe, as well as the growing needs of clients in this area. At the beginning of November, four new Partners already started working at Rymarz Zdort Maruta: Michał Czarnuch, Dr Anna Partyka-Opiela, Marcin Pieklak and Tomasz Kaczyński.

The successive expansion of our client base and the extension of our law firm’s competencies to include further significant and market-leading practices is a key element of our market strategy, which we have consistently pursued since becoming an independent law firm. The establishment of our Life Sciences practice and the addition of such renowned lawyers to our team is a response to our clients’ needs. I am confident that by combining their knowledge and experience with the strength of our existing practices, we will be able to offer clients comprehensive and multidisciplinary legal advice at the highest level in a way not previously seen on the market“- says Paweł Zdort, managing partner at Rymarz Zdort Maruta.

Michał Czarnuch will head the new practice, with Dr Anna Partyka-Opiela, Marcin Pieklak and Tomasz Kaczyński as co-heads.

    fot. Bartosz Maciejewski

I am delighted that the law firm Rymarz Zdort Maruta has recognised the very dynamic development of the Life Sciences industry and has decided to entrust us with the mission of establishing this practice within the firm. I am convinced that our strong position and the reputation we have enjoyed in the market for many years will enable us to provide effective advice to both existing and new clients of the law firm. I very much look forward to the synergies we will be able to achieve with the firm’s other practices, such as TMT and M&A, and supporting existing and future clients. It is a combination of the best pharma experience with transactional and technology experience” – comments Michał Czarnuch, partner in charge of the Life Sciences practice.

The new Life Sciences team will provide advice on pharmaceutical law, biotechnology, food law, healthcare, MedTech and veterinary medicine. The team will support Polish and foreign entities in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, food, and chemical industries, as well as to alcohol and tobacco businesses.

The addition of Life Sciences specialists to our team is the third development this year that significantly expands the scale and scope of our company’s services – following the merger with the Maruta Wachta’ team and the addition of Agnieszka Skorupinska’s environmental and ESG team. A question can therefore be raised as to how many more steps we are planning for 2024. Unfortunately, it is not possible to answer this question at the moment. However, there is certainly room in Poland for a top-quality law firm of a size larger than our current one. What we will certainly not abandon is ensuring that we remain leaders in every area in which we practise. The new Life Sciences team, with such comprehensive and detailed knowledge and many years of experience, is certainly in line with this policy” – adds Paweł Rymarz, managing partner at Rymarz Zdort Maruta.
