Piotr Wawrzeniuk is an advocate admitted to practice in Poland, a senior associate in the corporate department and a member of the Restructuring and Insolvency practice of Rymarz Zdort Maruta.
Experience and education:
A specialist in criminal, civil and commercial disputes, he advises companies from various sectors, including the insurance, banking, energy, real estate and financial services sectors. He represents both injured parties and defendants suspected of wrongdoing in criminal proceedings, in particular with regard to white-collar crimes.
Piotr Wawrzeniuk has advised insurance companies on the largest claims raised on the basis of third-party liability insurance policies (in particular directors’ and officers’ liability insurance), as well as both acquiring and acquired entities in merger and acquisition transactions in relation to warranty and indemnity insurance. He also has experience in providing legal advice in respect of corporate matters related to the functioning of commercial companies and M&A transactions. Prior to joining Rymarz Zdort Maruta, he worked for financial institutions operating in the insurance and banking sectors for over ten years.
Piotr has also advised on the civil and criminal liability of members of management and supervisory boards, in particular in connection with claims filed by companies in relation to alleged wrongdoings of company executives, claims filed by shareholders in connection with share price decreases, liability for late bankruptcy filings and recourse claims related to fines incurred by companies. He has also advised on criminal cases related to white-collar crimes committed against companies by their managers.
The scope of his advisory services additionally includes representing financial institutions before courts in litigation proceedings, and proceedings before the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).
He graduated with distinction from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw in 2013. During his studies, he twice received a rector’s scholarship, which is a scholarship awarded to the best students. He qualified as an advocate in 2017.
