Associate

Jan Bednarski is an associate in the corporate department of Rymarz Zdort Maruta and a member of the Compliance and Forensic teams.

Experience and education:  

He provides ongoing advice on compliance, anti-corruption, whistleblowing, sanctions and pharmaceutical law. He regularly conducts/oversees projects related to developing internal compliance management systems in organisations in various industries such as energy, pharmaceuticals, construction, heavy industry and food. He has participated in complex implementations of ISO 37001 (anti-corruption), ISO 37301 (compliance) and ISO 37002 (whistleblowing) systems, procedures and regulations. He has successfully implemented more than 30 whistleblowing systems in organisations of all sizes, including multinational corporations.

He has significant experience in the area of economic sanctions. He specialises in subject and object risk assessments, in particular by advising on service bans, transactions related to companies located in Russia and Belarus, and divestment processes. He thoroughly vets counterparties and supply chains, identifying business and legal risks, including those related to sanctions, anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), and ESG compliance.

He also has experience in the broad area of forensic investigations. He conducts internal audits, internal investigations and employee interviews, as well as conducts in-depth link analyses based on open-source information (OSINT). He has supported companies belonging to multinational groups by successfully identifying employee actions detrimental to such companies.

He is an expert in creating internal regulations in accordance with the plain language and legal design methodologies. He successfully transforms complex procedures, contracts and legal documents into clear, user-friendly documents, while complying with legal requirements and tailoring such texts to the needs of the audience.

He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the University of Wrocław. He also holds a magister degree in computer science and an engineering degree in automation and robotics from Wrocław University of Science and Technology. He also participated in LL.M. studies in International Technology Law in Amsterdam. His interdisciplinary knowledge combines legal and IT issues, which allows him to effectively support clients in areas requiring knowledge of both.
