Marcin Serafin

Marcin Serafin is a partner at Rymarz Zdort Maruta and the head of the privacy & data protection department.

Experience and education:

Marcin has a 17-year track record of specialising in new technology law, personal data protection, cybersecurity, information security and compliance. He has managed some of the largest GDPR compliance implementation projects and GDPR consulting projects in Poland, which required coordinating the work of more than 30 experts. He has also advised clients on major technology contracts, GDPR implementations and the selection of business models for new technology domains. His key clients include entities from the IT, telecommunications, energy, e-commerce, financial and manufacturing sectors.

For many years, he has been fascinated by the confluence of compliance and new technologies, both in respect of the implementation of Legal Tech solutions and how the manner in which business is conducted is influenced by such confluence. From 2013 to 2014, he served as public policy manager at Google. He is an ISO 27001 lead auditor and is active as a lecturer at the University of Warsaw, the Warsaw School of Economics, Jagiellonian University, and in private training. He has authored numerous articles and has been a speaker at industry conferences.

Marcin has been recommended several times in the area of personal data protection in the law firm ranking of the “Rzeczpospolita” daily newspaper. He has also been recognised for personal data protection in the international rankings of Chambers & Partners (“Leading Individual” and Band 4) and TMT (Leading Individual, Up&Coming, and Next Generation Lawyer).
