Marcin Cwener is an advocate licensed to practise in Poland and counsel in the privacy & data protection department of Rymarz Zdort Maruta.
Marcin specialises in data protection law. He is a Data Protection Officer and has been responsible for the implementation and oversight of GDPR compliance in some of the largest entities in the energy industry, the manufacturing industry and in one of Poland’s largest financial institutions. He has been involved in a number of prestigious projects in the areas of credit insurance and business intelligence, as well as in the telecommunications and HR industries.
Earlier in his career, Marcin was an employee of the Department of Jurisprudence, Legislation and Complaints in the Office of the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, where he was in charge of handling administrative proceedings concerning complaints about irregularities in the processing of personal data. From 2013 to 2017, he was a personal data protection expert at a leading consulting firm in Warsaw and an information security administrator at several entities operating in the financial, commercial and manufacturing sectors. He is an ISO 27001 internal auditor, and his work is based upon the Agile methodology. Marcin is the author of numerous publications on personal data protection and the GDPR, as well as Vice-Chairman of the Personal Data Protection Law Division at the Warsaw Bar Association.
Marcin completed his postgraduate studies in Information Security Management at the Warsaw School of Economics. He teaches postgraduate Data Protection Officer and MBA programmes at the Poznan School of Banking.
