Rymarz Zdort Maruta establishes new Environmental Law and ESG practice
3 July 2023
At the beginning of July, advocate Agnieszka Skorupińska joined Rymarz Zdort Maruta as a partner and the head of our new Environmental Law and ESG practice. The establishment of this separate practice is a response to growing demand from clients for services in these areas as well as current market trends. It is also a continuation of the further development of the services offered by Rymarz Zdort Maruta on the legal market announced in January 2023. In addition to heading the new practice, Agnieszka will work closely with the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources practice, particularly in the area of decarbonisation projects.
“The addition of Agnieszka to our team and her specialisation to our services offering is part of our consistently pursued strategy of successively expanding our range of services in response to our clients’ needs. I am very pleased that such a recognised environmental law and ESG specialist is now working with us and will support us not only with her many years of experience, but also with her positive energy by becoming the head of another market-leading practice at Rymarz Zdort Maruta”, says Paweł Zdort, a managing partner at Rymarz Zdort Maruta.
For the last six years, Agnieszka worked with CMS, heading the firm’s Environmental Law Practice in Poland and CEE, and coordinating ESG activities at the CEE level. She is a qualified advocate with over 15 years of experience. She specialises in Polish and EU environmental law, natural resources law, and ESG regulations. She has successfully represented companies from the energy, chemical, construction, waste management, FMCG, water supply and sewerage, renewable energy sources, mining, automobile, clothing, and food sectors. For many years, she has successfully represented clients in administrative and court proceedings concerning environmental protection law. Agnieszka is also the Chair of the Taxonomy Working Group at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology and the Vice Chair of the ESG Committee at the Polish Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she is a member of a group supporting work on the draft European Sustainable Reporting Standards (ESRS) for listed and non-listed SMEs at EFRAG. For many years, Agnieszka has been recognised in international and Polish legal market rankings such as Chambers and Partners (Band 1), The Legal 500 (Rising Star) and Rzeczpospolita (Leader).
“I am very pleased to be joining Rymarz Zdort Maruta – this is an opportunity for new professional challenges. I hope that my previous experience in advising companies on regulatory aspects, litigation, investment projects and environmental aspects of real estate transactions, M&A transactions and financing processes will significantly expand the existing range of services provided by Rymarz Zdort Maruta. I am particularly optimistic about developing Rymarz Zdort Maruta’s ESG legal advisory capabilities, as well as excited at the prospect of supporting the coordination of decarbonisation projects in the Energy & Natural Resources practice,” says Agnieszka Skorupińska.

The team led by Agnieszka will provide advice on environmental law and ESG law, but will also work with other practices, including, in particular, Energy & Natural Resources, Capital Markets, Real Estate and Private Equity. We believe that with such a broad range of expertise on board, we will be able to support clients not only on environmental projects, but also in connection with adapting their businesses to the changing regulatory environment and implementing responsible and sustainable development policies.
